6 Great Things About Tesla Solar

Aug 28, 2023

If you're looking to go green and reduce your energy costs, you may be looking to install solar panels or a solar roof on your home. You're certainly not alone! In fact, according to Pew Research, in 2021, residential solar power installations increased to 3.9 gigawatts. While there are many manufacturers of solar panels and roofs, one of the companies that many people are familiar with is Tesla. As such, you may be curious if a Tesla solar roof is right for your home. Here are six of the great things related to Tesla solar.

1. The Solar Panels Are an Entirely New Roof

One of the biggest differences between Tesla power and other solar panels is that the former is a completely new roof for your home. It's not installed over your existing roofing materials. As such, if you were already in the market for a new roof, installing these panels helps take care of the roof element while also checking the solar checkbox. This also means your panels don't have to be removed to repair your roof, which is the case with traditional solar panels.

2. There's a 25-Year Warranty Against Leaking

Tesla solar offers a long warranty for their solar roof. According to Tesla, there's a 25-year warranty against the roof leaking. This means that if your roof starts to leak, or shows signs that it may leak, your panels will either be repaired or replaced free of charge. This is one of the longest warranties currently on the market for solar roofing materials.

3. It Comes With a Production Warranty

Another unique element related to Tesla solar roofs is that they actually come with a production warranty. As panels or roof tiles are exposed to the sun, they start to lose some of their efficiency. They are able to produce less power as time goes on. This is similar to the way your phone battery slowly losses its ability to hold a full charge as it's charged and recharged. Tesla offers a production warrant that states that its product will produce at least 95% of its rated power for the first five years and 85% of its rated power for years six through 25.

4. The System's Compatible With a Tesla Powerwall Battery

Most solar systems have some type of backup or battery system that allows you to store power in case your home isn't actively producing solar energy at the moment. With Tesla solar, that system is the powerwall battery. The Tesla powerwall battery system is one of the highest-rated battery systems on the market.

You can also increase the number of batteries you have, increasing the amount of power you can store for a cloudy day or to get you through the night. Powerwall batteries are also great because they can simply be hung on a wall in a garage, taking up little space.

5. Tesla Offers a Referral System

One of the lesser-known benefits associated with the Tesla solar roofing system is that the company actually offers a referral system. If your family, friends, or neighbors see how great your system works, they may want to get their own. If you refer them, you earn a referral fee. Such money can add up quickly, especially with so many people making the switch to solar.

6. Tesla Solar Roofs Are Available in All 50 States

Tesla solar has expanded to all 50 states, according to Electrek, a reputable source of solar and EV vehicle news. They now have companies that are certified to install and repair their systems in each and every state. It's important to note that some of these companies don't service rural areas at this time. However, if you live in a fairly large city, there's a good chance that you can easily find someone to install and/or repair your Tesla solar roof.

Power grids are aging, and when it's extremely hot outside, it's not uncommon for systems to fail. Having solar helps lessen your reliance on these power grids while also helping you do your part to help the environment.
